Why To Take Humanities College Courses Online

With everything that’s happened over the past couple of years, one of the real blessings is how much of our lives are digital. Many of us have been able to easily work from the comfort of our own home, or to study remotely which has meant we could move forward with our education, no matter what was going on. If you’re interested in studying humanities college courses, then it may be worthwhile enrolling in some online. There are plenty of benefits to studying online, so here are my top reasons why to take humanities college courses online:

1. Work at Your Own Pace

I completed the last year of my college education online and my favorite part was that I could work at my own pace for much of the content. My college recorded videos of the lectures, and instead of watching one a day as would have been my normal schedule, I watched them at times that worked around my worklife, sometimes choosing to set aside a large block of time to watch a couple of lectures. There are likely some aspects of your college education, even if online, that will be deadline based, but an online humanities course has a lot more flexibility than classroom learning.

2. Less Pandemic Related Disruptions
Unfortunately we’re still in the midst of the pandemic, even with a comprehensive vaccine rollout we’re still experiencing a number of lockdowns, shutdowns and disruptions. For this reason, I think there’s a big advantage to being enrolled in a distance based learning program during this time. You will experience far fewer disruptions than those in traditional learning environments, meaning that you can just focus on learning and won’t have to worry about when things will be put on hold next.

3. More Affordable Than in Person Classes
Because online college courses have less overheads than traditional college education, many of them offer much more affordable price points. If you’re on a budget, simply don’t want to rack up huge student loans, or just want to continue your learning for the fun of it, then having access to more affordable programs can reduce your barrier to entry. Just be sure that the courses you choose will fit in well with your overall plan for your education.

Choosing to enroll in college education is an exciting step! No matter whether you choose to enroll in a traditional college, or online courses, you should be proud of yourself for making this commitment to your learning.  If you do choose online learning, I’m sure that you’ll enjoy the added flexibility that online learning provides, as well as the peace of mind that the pandemic will impact your education less than in a traditional classroom. The fact that online college courses tend to be more affordable is another bonus that I’m sure will help you achieve your education dreams more easily. Wishing you all the best for this important milestone.
