Is Virtual Learning Effective?
In this day & age because of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, it is not always easy to learn in person, which is why a lot of the new methods of teaching involve zoom. But just how effective is this type of strategy & what kind of impact does it have on the kids at home? Well, the good news is Jonathan Osler knows all there is to know about the subject which is why he agreed to talk about the impact this is having on kids around the world & whether or not this is one of the more effective tools in their arsenal. So, the first thing he found is that it does not appear to be helping many of the kids who have to deal with this. A quick survey found that most of the kids who have to learn on zoom do not care for it & that many of them are about to fail their classes if they do not get extra help. Studies have found that more than 30% of students around the world are falling behind as a result of this & it is clear it is not a sustainable solution for the future. Of course, this does seem to track as it is never easy to have to teach from behind a screen to students all around the world, but it does raise the question as to what can be done about this. Well, there are a few things that can be done about this predicament. For one thing, it does seem to be getting better in terms of the number of cases around the world which means it might soon be safe to go back to the classroom. This will give the kids the chance to catch up on all that they missed & will also allow them to see their friends again. It will give them the chance to ask all the questions they want so they can be sure they understand the subject that is trying to be taught to them. If this does not pan out, however, one of the other things they can try is to have class outside as this will keep them safe while still being able to learn in person as they get ready for their next test. Of course, it has to be a part of the woods that is safe, but this should not be that hard to find. Finally, one of the last ideas they could try is to find a room that has plenty of ventilation or a lot of windows on all sides. This way, it ensures that they are at no risk of getting ill as they strive to pass their quizzes & move on to the next grade. So as long as they are able to follow the advice that has been provided to them by Jonathan Osler, they should be able to ensure that they will have a good school year free of illness or any other adverse effects from it.
