How to be more influential
One of the most important things in the workplace is to know how to get stuff done & that can be done thanks to a little thing called influence. But not a lot of people know how to use that influence to get what they want at work. So just how does one use this to make sure that everything that needs to get done is finished on time? Well, there are a few ways to go about this & that’s why Alexander Djerassi is here to explain how this is done for those who are not aware of this type of thing. So, the first thing they need to know is that they will not get anywhere without exerting their authority. So, if they want to be productive, they need to make it clear that they mean business & this will in turn make people work harder & be more effective at their jobs. Once they see how serious they are about handing in those reports on time, it is guaranteed that they will be on the desk of the head honcho by the end of the day at the latest. One of the other ways they can be sure that their influence works is by being earnest with the person they are trying to get through to. If they see just how sincere they are, it will make them more inclined to do the work & get it to them as fast as they can. Because the truth is people tend to catch more flies with honey than vinegar & this applies to any type of workplace one may come across. People are a lot less inclined to do what one says if they feel as if they are not being respected or treated well. One other thing that tends to help is if one has a lot of awards, degrees or credentials. If someone who has not even finished high school tells a staff member to do something, they probably will not be all that likely to listen to them. But if someone who has a PhD says that same person what to do, it is much more likely that they will do as they are told. This is due to the fact that they are well aware of the fact that they have many years of experience & as such probably know exactly what they’re talking about. Finally, the higher up on the food chain one is, the more influence they have. For example, if a fellow coworker tells a guy what to do, they have no reason to listen to them but if the boss man gives them an order you can be sure that this order will be carried out in full. So being higher up helps to increase the amount of influence one has over another. So, these are the tips that Alexander Djerassi has from years of experience in politics to provide on how to be as influential as one can in the workplace.
