Smart Glasses: The Future of Eyewear

Technology is constantly evolving to make our lives easier. There are new phone models every year, new handy gadgets, and even new eyeglasses. The biggest change in eyewear has been seen in the past few years with the introduction of smart glasses to the market. These glasses come in many models that offer a variety of new technology that can be used in many ways.  Let’s learn more about the future of eyewear.

So what are the many uses of smart glasses? To start, smart glasses can be used in the workforce to make important data more accessible to the wearer. For example, monocular smart glasses can be used to track patient vitals during surgery by projecting the information right out of the eyeline of surgeons. Binocular smart glasses overlay 2D and 3D glasses and can be used by engineers that need to have information communicated to them about how to best fix oil rigs.

Aside from the professional use of smart glasses, they can also be used to relay information to everyday users. For example, audio augmented reality glasses contain GPS information. They also have small speakers and have been used to inform Coachella attendees about musical performances that were starting. Mixed reality glasses can project photos directly in front of the eyes, creating an immersive experience for the user.

Are Smart Glasses Safe?

It may seem strange to have pictures, words, or audio being projected so close to one’s face. This is especially true in a professional setting. With smart glasses, the information that is being projected is done so just outside the line of sight to minimize distraction. Therefore, it makes it safe to use while focusing on the task at hand.

Smart glasses are relatively new to the market, but with so many new models being presented it seems that they are the future of eyewear. With the many benefits of smart glasses, is it time to make the switch?

Looking Up. The Future of Eyewear Is Shining Bright
