Bully Breed: Beloved and Booming

There are so many types of dogs in the United States, and it can be easy to lose track of the different kinds.  Despite this large variety of breeds, the bully breed is particularly popular, making them useful breeds to know.  In fact, many consider bully breeds to be “America’s Dogs,” so being familiar with bully breeds helps paint a picture of the larger dog population in the United States.

Bully breeds encompass over 50 terrier-type dogs.  Examples include the Bull Terrier, Rottweiler, and Bulldog.  In 21 states, bully breeds and pit bulls are the most popular breed.  Additionally, in the United States as a whole, French Bulldogs hold the number one spot for most popular dogs.  This ranking is based on the number of registrations at the American Kennel Club.

Due to their temperaments, bully breeds will likely continue to be some of the most sought-after dogs in the country.  Many bully breeds score in the top percentile of best-tempered dogs.  For example, the American Bully scored 100% on the ATTS Temperament Test, placing it at the top of the list of best-tempered dogs.

With these temperaments, it’s no wonder that Americans love bully breeds.  Bully breeds are a core part of the dog population in the United States.  They are well-loved companions, and will likely continue to gain popularity over time.
