4 Ways to Invest in Yourself Outside of the Office

If you’ve been busy trying to stay afloat during the pandemic, then chances are you’ve let some aspects of your life slip behind. Maybe you’ve stopped wearing makeup daily, even though you love how it makes you feel to cut down costs or to save time as you’re not out and about as much as pre-pandemic. Perhaps you’ve stopped going to the gym because it’s closed down or had restrictions in place due to Covid. Maybe it’s been close to two years since you’ve stepped inside a clothing store and bought yourself something new. This time has been hard on all of us, but now we’re finally seeing an end in sight. It’s time to start prioritizing ourselves again and finding ways to make ourselves look and feel our best. Here are my top 4 ways to invest in yourself outside of the office.

Get a Good Exercise Routine
Exercise can be a game changer. Being fit and active not only has a ton of health benefits, but it also can help you look and feel your best. This can have a great influence on your energy levels, and your attitude and motivation in the workplace. My suggestion is to find a routine that you can easily keep up to date with, you don’t want something that takes so long or is so intense that you find yourself wanting to skip your workouts. It may even need to be as simple as buying some weights to keep at home to work out with, you can click here to learn more about some great home weight options.

Buy Things That Make You Look and Feel Good
Chances are there are probably certain items that make you feel and look good. For me, I love having a pretty feminine pair of earrings on, even if I’m just going to be lounging around at home. If you don’t have your ears pierced, you may want to look into the best clip on earrings that will allow you to enjoy the perks of earrings without having to get a piercing. You may prefer to wear an elegant watch, or even invest in your favorite fragrance or cologne to elevate your mood.

Disconnect When You Can

The trouble with having phones that do so much, is that it can make it much more challenging to disconnect from work emails and calls outside of business hours. I turn my phone on to silent mode when it’s the evening so I’m not constantly bombarded by work emails when I’m trying to relax. You will want to focus on ways you can set boundaries between your work and your free time so you can really relax and reset yourself.

Make Time for Your Loved Ones
There have been numerous studies that have shown the keys to happiness and longevity is often a bustling social life. When we give our all at work, it can be hard to have the energy to make time for those that are important to us. Investing in your closet friendships and family relationships can do wonders for your mental health, energy levels, and happiness. For this reason, they should always be a priority. Set up a regular time to see those you love, even if it’s just planning to meet the first Friday of every month for a drink. Life can get busy, especially when work becomes very demanding, so having regular times to meet can help ensure it actually happens. When you’re very career focused, it can be easy to forget about yourself outside of that environment. But I’ve found investing in myself, my relationships, and my family is the best way to ensure that I’m most productive in the office. Hopefully these suggestions help you learn to continually invest in yourself, so you can enjoy all the benefits that provide you.
